This community presents unique needs as it was founded as a government project to provide housing and infrastructure for impoverished families who elected to participate. This community is a blend of castes with Dalits and BC subsisting together. Most families are daily wage workers and live with precarious income and no buffer to weather sickness or similar events. This population is especially vulnerable to labor trafficking.
We are collaborating with ATRI, an Indian non-profit based in Hosur, to carry out this project. Together we have assessed the needs of Hanumath Nagar.
Here's what we're prioritizing:
- Open one dedicated after school center and enroll 100 children in the first year.
- Launch one Self Help Group training program and two vocational workshops for 150+ women, focusing on entrepreneurship and economic independence.
- Set up one youth center with apprenticeship programs and soft skills workshops for 80-100 youth.
