Microfinance, savings, and entrepreneurship
Core to our training in microfinance, savings and entreprenuership are Self-Help Groups (SHGs) are small, voluntary associations of 10-20 individuals, typically women who come together to address common challenges and improve their livelihoods. These groups encourage and train members to pool savings and access microfinance. This way, members are able to support one another in starting small business such as tailoring.
This works to empower women and their families forward while guarding against situations they could typically be taken advantage of, such as an urgent need forcing a mom to take a loan from a loanshark, which can easily put her in a harmful situation and ultimately lead to trafficking.
Our program equips women in how to run microfinance, as well as skill development, and training in areas like financial literacy, business management, and vocational skills. Through collective action and partnerships, SHGs enhance economic independence and social resilience within communities.
